A brand is an identity. It is the concept, form, image and perception of a commodity. This commodity may be an object, it may be an organization or it may even be you and me. A brand at times has more value than the object itself, this is because a brand is the identifiable portion of the object. The image portrayed by the object or even you is a brand. It represents you. It sets you apart. It is who you are. That is your brand.

A brand image can either be formed or created in the mind of a consumer. If the topic of branding on the internet were to be raised, it is a very manipulative subject. There are millions of websites on the internet with 4 new websites being released every minute. A random search on a search engine will bring you no less than 100,000 results. Amongst this huge mass of crowd, it is important to create a brand for yourself if you intend to survive. This brand image is what will distinguish you from the rest of the mob.

There are various strategies of creating a brand image online. A brand is usually deemed by the consumer as an extension of self. In simpler terms, people identify themselves with the brands they patronize. Therefore, the stronger the brand, the higher the brand loyalty and in turn, the better your position.  

An essential aspect of branding is to create a personalized image. Create a logo of your own. Depict your style in your website and blog. There is no point mimicking a stronger website, it is important to bring the personality emitted by you to become synonymous with the brand. Blog your personal comments and feelings and have your own personalized signature! Always be accessible and available to add a personal touch to your website.
